Commune~ArtyVibe Six Week Free Course

Born out of an idea in wanting to make a difference.

It all began with an idea that arrived after meditation.

Over the years in my work, I had heard the same quiet ache repeated again and again: people feeling failed by a purely medical approach, feeling unseen, unheard, disconnected from their bodies and their communities. Many carried a deep sense of not belonging, of having no purpose, of believing they were somehow “not enough” to become anything more than the version of themselves they were living at that moment.

I always disagreed. Every single one of us is worthy of living fully on this beautiful planet — and I wanted to show them how they could feel that truth in their bones.

And so, Commune~ArtyVibe was born. If we gathered in a group, no one would be isolated. If we tapped into art, creativity, and making, purpose would begin to return. If we worked with the frequencies of nature, sound, and the music of life, we could feel the innate shift that happens when the nervous system is met with gentleness and resonance.

I approached a local artist — a survivor of domestic abuse whom I had once supported through group talking therapy and one‑to‑one tuning fork sessions. Many years had passed since Charlie had been a service user, but I had quietly followed her journey. I witnessed her health decline, her battles for support, and the ongoing abuse she endured not only from the father of her children but also from the judicial system itself. The systemic harm was relentless.

And yet, over time, I watched her not only survive but rise. She was knocked down again and again — and every time, she stood back up. She fought. She grew. She transformed.

Now known as Red, she uses her lived experience to create change. Her artwork has been exhibited. She has delivered a TEDx Talk about her journey. And she is now preparing to host a free conference to highlight the barriers and systemic abuse women face simply trying to survive — with the hope of sparking real, lasting change.

Why wouldn’t I want to work with a woman like that.

Together, we sought funding from FEAST and Arts Council England — and we received it. A free six‑week course in art, nature, and sound. Twelve places, with a waiting list for those who felt drawn but weren’t quite ready. Two stepped back, and that was okay — healing happens in its own time. Two stepped forward and thrived.

Over the six weeks, something extraordinary unfolded.

Most sessions began with a soundbath — a way to land, to learn how to self‑regulate, to make friends with their inner landscape. A way to teach the body that it is not a place of fear, but a place of holding, nurturing, and creativity.

From there, we moved into art and making., within the studio and in nature. Clarrick and Pigshill Woods and Cawsand Beach. Both favoured by all the participants. They all explored thoughts and feelings that had never before had a safe route to expression. They gave themselves permission to be present, to witness their own journey, to honour what they had carried — and to recognise what they could begin to change for themselves, rather than relying solely on medication.

Confidence grew. Voices emerged. Tears and laughter were shared. Every single person experienced movement — forward, inward, upward.

So much so that we are now exploring further funding to offer longer courses, still free, still for anyone who feels “less than” in any way.

It has been an extraordinary journey — for the participants, for Red, and for me. A privilege. An honour. To witness even a small part of their Becoming.

Thank you to every single person who trusted us with their story.

These are some of the photo’s we took throughout the duration.
